Circus Maximus :: Isolate

Frontier Records

CD Review

By The Atomic Chaser

Circus Maximus :: IsolateCircus Maximus return with their sophomore release, 'Isolate'. The band's evolution from their debut, '1st Chapter' has grown tenfold. The first track "A Darkened Mind" kicks this album off with shall I say INCREDIBLE AWSOMENESS!!! The melodies and rhythms are just too amazing to ignore, no matter what kind of music you listen to.  From that point on, with tracks like, "Abyss" and the melodic brilliance of "Wither", Circus Maximus takes your senses on one hell of a ride, the only question is, can you hold on!? As a band, their chemistry is like white on rice. Michael Eriksen's vocals are powerful. While Mats Haugen's guitar work is simply mind blowing! The band's foundation is solid as a rock, courtesy of bassist, Glen Cato Mollen and drummer Truls Haugen. Lasse Finbraten's amazing keyboard work rounds out the bands magnificent and powerful sound. This is easily one of the most amazing recordings to be released this year.  I am looking forward to hearing what Circus Maximus comes up with next.  "Isolate" is an absolute must-have recording that will appeal to fans of epic power metal and progressive metal fans alike. Keep your eyes and ears open for Circus Maximus, I have a feeling these guys are going to be around for quite a long time to come. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
