Critically-Acclaimed L.A. Pop Provocateurs… The Towels
Release Long-Awaited, Soon-To-Be-Lauded New CD, “AROUND OUR WORLD”
Called “one of the most delightfully entertaining, one-of-a-kind musical combos I’ve heard in many decades – FOUR STARS (highest rating)” by no less an authority than Todd David Schwartz of CBS RADIO, the musically-quirky, unique-sounding collective known as THE TOWELS return with their most enjoyable, musically-challenging recording to date, AROUND OUR WORLD (Platehead Records). Recorded at SCK Sounds in Santa Clarita, with engineer Stephen Kidwell at the controls, THE TOWELS (Noral Squizz, lead vocals, guitar; Roy Hardinge, lead guitar, backing vocals; Doug Deringer, bass, backing vocals; Tom Bolton, drums) promise to take music lovers of all persuasions on an exciting aural journey with the release of AROUND OUR WORLD.
Squizz takes us here on track-by-track synopsis of AROUND OUR WORLD… Lead off Track ”From The Top” is "about being a man, using his (power of) sex”… Track #2, ”Around My World” is about the “discovery of one’s self”…Track #3, ”Has It Occurred To You” is “about being positive in life – that is, the glass is half full, not half empty;” Track #4, “No Chorus,” is “about romance…and fun;” Track #5, “The Life On The Strip,” is about “Sunset Blvd. – if you’ve lived in L.A. and been a working musician, you know what that’s about”…Track #6, “Million Guitars,” is “about the perils of the music industry…(sic.)…Track #7, “8 Ball,” equates “playing pool = romance;” Track #8, “Pretty Pussycat,” is about “loving all things feminine;” Track #9, “Girl In Green,” is about “love, and when someone loses it;” Track #10, “Above The Clouds,” is “about the beauty of all things;” Track #11, “A Long Term Love,” is “the one for me;” album-ending Track #12, “Call You My Friend,” is “a requiem for (our) brothers and sisters who have gone too soon.”
The Towels will support the release of AROUND OUR WORLD with selective live show dates in Socal’s better music venues (translated: not necessarily nightclubs). The CD is available through CD Baby and better record stores throughout L.A.
