Terry Sullivan :: TheErthMoovsAroundTheSun
Good Charamel Records
CD ReviewBy Kim Thore
There are records. There are albums. There are CD’s. And then there is TheErthMoovsAroundTheSun which transcends the mundane and is poised to be THE seminal release from Terry Sullivan and perhaps the best thing to come out of the New York Music scene since the days of Patti, Johansen, and Dee Dee., With his Bowie-esque vocal style, lyrical swagger and polished production, Sullivan has compiled eleven tracks that take you from glitter glam to soulful rock anthem without a single recess or intermission.
Humming along like a 1973 Road Runner with a well tuned Hemi, the hooks are clean, catchy and remind you of the days when music was an innovative escapade not a road already traveled. Unsullied by commercialism constraints, Sullivan is not afraid to weave synth, soulful ballads, and rock anthems into a daring and dazzling web that have you hitting replay immediately.
With a history that most rock legends only dream of, e,g, appearances on MTV, and in venues such as CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City, Sullivan has shared the stage with everyone from the Replacements to John Cale and been influenced by the likes of Hanoi Rocks and Johnny Thunders. Now it is his turn to inspire others. Stand out tracks include “Power World”, “Lorelei”, “Lamplight” and “A Party”. The latter is rather apropos, because THEERTHMOOVSAROUNDTHESUN is just that- the party you’ve been waiting for and the invitation just arrived. In short, this release will race to the top of your cd collection with its license to groove- save the seatbelts, enjoy the ride. t-sullivan.com
