Derdian :: Tasty Italian and We're not talking pasta

CD Review :: Italian band hits the U.S. harder than Columbus with New Era Pt. 1

By Marco Herrán

DerdianAll the way from Milan, Italy, Derdian has this hidden treasure CD entitled New Era Pt. 1. If you like good musicianship along with Symphonic Power Metal, this CD is up your alley. From the beginning operatic choir intro “Incipit”, you can tell the direction of  this epic CD. From beginning to end you will find excellent compositions. The instrumentation of this CD is very tasty. From power melodic metal to a beautiful power ballad, “Where I Can Fly”, it flows like a majestic river, ending with another melodic metal track “Cage Of Light”. This band has it all: fluid vocals, guitars, keyboards and a tight rhythm section. If  you like Rhapsody Of Fire, Statovarius, or DragonForce, you will enjoy and appreciate what these boys from Italy are doing. Progressive symphonic metal at its best.

I am pleased to announce that they just signed with American record label, Magna Carta,(Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan, Jordan Rudess and Steve Morse), who believe in what Derdian is doing. Expect the new CD New Era Pt.2, “War Of The Gods” to be out in September, 2007, We will be eagerly anticipating this upcoming sequel, and in the meantime, believe us- these adventurous Italians will rock from continent to continent.
