Whitesnake :: Live: In the Shadow of the Blues
CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
David Coverdale has surrounded himself with some of the finest, best rock n roll road warriors that money can buy. Tommy Aldrige (the only real hold over from any other Whitesnake lineup) is the most insane drummer of all of rock. Tommy beats the skins like an animal (I've seen thing close up). He makes these songs sound like a locomotive barreling through your house!!! Marco Mendozo, is Tommy's partner in crime. Reb Beach, a fine player who gave Dokken a much awaited kick in the balls on their 1999 'Erase the Slate', boy can this guy play! Reb's playing though is more reserved in this band, relying of the rhythm guitarist role, which he supremely does, and lets the true star of the show, Doug Aldrich (Bad Moon Rising/Burning Rain), take care of most of the lead guitar and solos. This two CD set features David Coverdale and his new gang of rockin' their way through the band's deep catalog including 'Slide It In', 'Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City', 'Is This Love', 'Still Of The Night' and 'Here I Go Again'. 24 tracks total. Recorded on the band's 2005-06 world tour plus four new studio tracks, their first new recordings in nearly a decade: 'Ready To Rock', 'If You Want Me', 'All I Want Is You' and 'Dog'.
