Atomic PlayboyFirst up, a Los Angeles based band Atomic Playboy. These tongue-in-cheek rock molesters are more fun than a bag of Trix, (that’s right rabbit). Their sound is reminiscent of Turbonegro, Hellacopters and a dash of GnR, but make no mistake its all Atomic Playboy. Their energy on stage had me wondering if Red Bull sponsors them. During their set they ripped through a version of Motley Crue, ‘Live Wire’ that made Metal Skool look like school kids. I am excited to say that my prayers have been answered! Finally, a dangerous, living on the edge, shove it down your throat rock band that is going to help revive the Sunset Strip back to its glory days of yesteryear. Check out their website for details, I hear the band will be doing a residency at a well known Hollywood venue real soon.

Next up The Breakdowns, also a Los Angeles band. But unfortunately their tardiness after performing a show the night before in Las Vegas got their set cut short. Maybe they were burnt out, cause it didn’t appear these guys were having much fun. Their set was a little lack luster, but they did manage to pull off one gem though with a heavier than normal song for this Social D, Die Hunns sounding band. Just my opinion, play the heaver stuff and ditch the rest, it comes across a lot better.

Third were the mighty Bourbon Saints! For those of you that don't know them, they are also a Los AngeleBourbon Saintss band. They have been tearing up the scene lately with excellent shows all over Hollywood, and it’s no different here. One could easily see that the Rock It was theirs tonight. The crowd was pushed up against the stage as if Jesus himself was about to perform a miracle. Even though the Saints were missing one of their guitar players, (Lightning Bill Woodcock) they still did a great job with Chuck Poquette, the other axe slinger taking up the slack and performing his guitar wizardry. One can see that this band is well on the way to becoming a leader in the Rock community. It was great to see bands helping and praising one another; while the Saints were on stage they repeatedly spoke highly of the Playboys and thanked the other bands for playing with them tonight.

Last up, Too Loose a band from El Segundo. They play a gritty, funk, punk, rock, and metal hybrid, and are somewhat entertaining. I was a little turned off with all the mention about cocaine, several times during their set. I think that this band is good at what they are doing, although they seem to be a little dated to me. But the crowd was having fun and that's all that matters, really. Live music is always better than a CD, “So Get Off The Couch & Go Support Some Local Bands”. Check these bands out.
