Paul Stanley
By Kerr Seth Lordygan
Paul Stanley has embarked in a tour for his new solo album, Live to Win, his first in 28 years. The album is chock-full of hard rock goodness from the legendary KISS frontman. The show was a lot of fun with many incredible tunes from past and present along the rock star’s career. Stanley applied his sense of humor between songs, keeping these hardcore fans at ease and excited all night long.
Being privy to such rarely heard songs like “Magic Touch” off Dynasty and “Tonight You Belong to Me” off Paul’s first solo album played live was such a treat for the fans who were singing along to every word. And the highlight of the evening was hearing “One in a Million” off Kiss’ Lick it Up album. Backing Paul was the talented house band from the Rock Star television show (the only good part of that show, right?) and together they tore through modern classics which included tunes off Live to Win. What makes these songs so special is they ring of legendary Paul Stanley, yet they could be played right along with current radio trends. The title-track (which was featured in a recent episode of South Park) and “Lift” were awesome inclusions in the set. “Everytime I see you Around” was a little too mellow for this crowd and not one of Paul’s best, but the set picked up again shortly.
Stanley played to sold-out crowd and his banter with the audience was biting yet sincere. This show was a real treat for rock fans young and old.
