Aerosmith, Motley Crue

Route of All "Evil" Tour at the Hyundai Pavilion

AerosmithArriving at the Hyundai Pavilion in Devore I was stoked to be seeing two of my favorite bands, Motley Crue and Aerosmith. Two of rock's hardest-livin', hardest-rockin' acts there ever were had hooked up for this colossal 27-date, "Route of All Evil Tour" and I was there.

Motley Crue was on fire and came out, guns blazing; pyrotechnics the token fog machines, and scantily clad dancers. Their sound a little weak, slightly distorted as they covered both old/new material off their albums. They did seem to be having a great time onstage, getting their energy from the crowd. Nikki and Vince running across the stage, Tommy bashing out tunes like 'Dr. Feelgood', 'Shout at the Devil', 'Looks That Kill', 'Louder Than Hell', to 'Sick Love Song', 'Primal Scream', 'Girls, Girls, Girls' and 'Kick Start My Heart', Mick was amazing. His guitar playing right on all night and I felt as if I was watching them as a teenager as I had done so many times before.

The crowd was into it filling the arena and singing along word for word to every song. Not sure if the crowd forgave Tommy Lee though when he thanked "San Diego" instead of "San Bernardino", but maybe passing around a bottle of jagermeister threw the crowed made up for it a little bit.

I was able to go backstage after they came off and had the chance to meet Mick, despite his ailing health, he was humble, gracious and took the time to take pictures with fans, I was honored that he took the time to chat with me briefly. Motley CrueNikki came out a few times, but security was very tight, so I decided to make my way back into the arena to check out Aerosmith.

Despite the huge amount of shows that I've been to, I've never had the chance to see Aerosmith play prior to this night, and was I blown away! Steven Tyler's voice reached every single person from the catwalk to the lawn seats. There's no doubt that Tyler and Perry still make an amazing team.
The bass solo turned into the intro to "Sweet Emotion", turned into "Kings and Queens" turned into "Dream on", to "Toys in the Attic", "Walkin' the Dog", "Eat the Ric" among other hits. From where I was standing behind the soundboard, I had an amazing view of the entire stage laser show and just took in the vibe from the crowd. Chalk it up to another amazing show by both bands. I'm so fortunate to witness these shows, meet the bands and be a part of this crazy world called RoCk 'N' RoLL!!.

A big thanks to Motley Crue for the pass, I so enjoyed this down and dirty old fashion rock show!
