The Joe Walla Band is real rock-n-roll served up just the way it should be: ROWDY, RAUNCHY and IN YOUR FACE! The catchy tunes, whiskey voice and lyrics that would make a lady blush always guarantee a good time. Break out the booze, grab the babes and fire up the Harley: Joe Walla is the “King of Rock-N-Roll”!
Do you Walla freaks remember the very first review we ever did on Joe Walla? A couple years back John Green came across Joe performing a special solo set at a local club. The talent coming from the stage that night blew John away, and he couldn’t wait to get home and write up what he saw and heard.
A couple of years have passed now, and AAM has been watching the progress of Joe Walla. His performances have been everything from acoustic to rough-and-rowdy rock-n-roll. We have witnessed his band grow to a 5-piece, have a backup singer, and now back to the way it should be: Joe Walla – vocals, lead guitar; Ricco Calande – bass; and George Nowicki – drums. But any way you serve it up, it’s rock-n-roll at its finest.
So where has this talented artist gone? And what’s in the future for Joe Walla and his band? The band has been performing at venues all over Southern California, sharing the stage with major acts like Y&T, Joe Lynn Turner, Robin McAuley, Mandy Lion’s WWIII, Gary Hoey and more. You may have been lucky to catch them at a motorcycle event here and there…
or tucked away in a desert way off in the middle of nowhere! But one thing’s for sure: The Joe Wall Band is getting out there and the fan base of “Walla Freaks” is growing!
Radio? Oh yes! The Joe Walla Band has been on 95.5 KLOS, Thunderground Radio on the Internet, where they had the #1 spot for their song, “Train of Revolution.” Also included in rotation are “Kill Whitey,” “Twisted Mind,” “Get Down,” and every Walla Freak’s favorite “Crack Whore.” Also, Pitt Radio on the Internet’s Independent Music Playlist Radio featured 3 of Joe’s songs from the soon-to-be-released album “Reverend J. Wicked III.” Be sure to add this one to your Christmas List!
You can also hear Joe and the Boys on the Internet’s OutLaw Radio, where they are the regular hosts of the Monthly Top 20 Countdown Show heard live the first Friday of the month at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time. The show repeats every Saturday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time.
Where are they headed now? Well, first – of course – back to the studio. Then the plans are to spread their wings a little down south and maybe overseas. AAM was hoping to bring you the scoop on all that, but unfortunately we’ll have to save that for another issue…damn contracts!
But what we can tell you is that The Joe Walla Band has been nominated in several categories at the 2006 All Access Magazine Music Awards Show, including Joe Walla himself for “Best Male Guitarist” in the Rock/Melodic/Blues category. And yes, they are performing at the Music
Awards as well! They are scheduled to hit the stage at exactly 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th at the Knitting Factory. They have a short – but I am sure a very powerful, IN-YOUR-FACE – set lined up for you, so be sure to get there early!
To contact the band log onto http://www.joewalla.com, or give a holler to 661-299-5489 or 818-618-9043 tell him All Access magazine says, “Thanks, Joe, for keeping rock-n-real and alive.” We’ll see you WALLY FREAKS at what’s surely to be the most-talked-about event of the year!
