A guitar lovers dream, for sure, this impressive thirteen-track offering is more than just an exercise in contemporary blues interpretation. A staple of the west coast blues scene, guitarist Frank Goldwasser wails his traditional blues-based style with disciplined precision and unbridled steam-packed passion. Juxtaposed with the rock influenced six-string crunch of Alastair Greene, Goldwasser’s licks reach fresh musical planes on tunes like Eddie Kirkland’s “I’m Gonna Wait” and Earl Hookland’s “Guitar Rumba.” In addition to eye-popping guitar work from both Goldwasser and Greene is the band’s stable foundation which runs beneath the group’s train ride through an eclectic group of songs and the more than adequate soul-filled vocals of Goldwasser, Greene, and special guest Lois Mahalia.
