Getting Close to Something :: My Evolution
30 Plus and Counting
CD Review

By Tony Sison, aka The Atomic Chaser

MY EVOLUTION have enough attitude and power to shake a stadium crowd out of their shoes. The next level in rock music is about to evolve into something new, My Evolution. Powered by BURGOS on vocals, M-Lo on guitar, MICAH on drums and McJUNK on bass. This band is pure rock. Not the overly heavy scary stuff you've been hearing on the radio for the last 10 years. BURGOS 's voice is an intriguing blend of gruffness and soulfulness. This is a great hard hitting, raw and powerful album. Check tracks like, "Little Miss Thing", "You First" and the guitar laden rocker, "Freakshow" and you know these boys have come to throw down and throw down hard and heavy! 'Getting Close to Something' is a great album by a good band. This is just a testament to the bands sound. I am a big fan of hard rock... you don't find many "rock" bands anymore. They were either rap-rock, extreme metal etc. My Evolution is just a flat out rocking band. Riffs, solos and more riffs and that go for the jugular. Intelligent and aggressive, this is unimpeachably one of the best new hard-rock releases I've heard this year. 'Getting Close to Something' never lets up. From the beginning to end every song is intense, and has an infectious groove and catchy riff. It's really impossible to choose any standout, because really the entire CD is quite excellent.
