The Sword returned once again to Spaceland for an incredible headlining set. A couple of noticeable differences this time were the increase of fans, and the overall performance of the band. Relentless touring has made The Sword more comfortable and animated on stage.
Opening up with the instrumental “March Of The Lor,” the crowd immediately went berzerk, as they witnessed truly one of the best bands to emerge this year. Songs such as “Barael’s Blade,” “Freya,” “Winter’s Wolves,” “Iron Swan,” and “Ebethron,” accentuate live the Stoner vibe contained within their “Age Of Winters” debut album. We were also treated to a couple of newbies which proved that these guys are not a one shot deal.
The band encored with my personal fave “Lament For The Aurochs,” which ignited the crowd into a sizeable mosh pit and unending cheers.
The Sword will be embarking on an opening slot tour with Trivium in the fall, which will introduce a whole new crowd to this superior outfit. Check them out if you know what’s good for you!
