CD Review
By The Atomic Chaser
I won't compare Mahavatar to any other metal band because to do so is just F-ing moronic. They are not Metallica, they are not Arch Enemy, they are not Opeth... they are Mahavatar. What this band brings to the table is a sound that combines today's heavy metal angst infused perfectly with progressive power. Creating a sound that is uniquely all their own.
Mahavatar are powered by, Lizza Hayson on vocals, Karla Williams on guitar, Shahar Mintz on guitars and vocals, Szymon Maria Rapacz on bass Eran Asias who provides the band with the thunder. The mind-blowing guitar riffs and ripping solos are probably my favorite aspect of this album. Take, for instance, the main riff to "The Cult, it's sick enough in itself, but then listen to the riff in the pre-chorus - it is so uplifting and powerful, especially the guitars come in full throttle. Oh, and speaking of uplifting, just listen to the riffs of the chorus to "Psychos" , this is coming from a metal band, and yet it is one of the most uplifting, "feel-good" guitar riffs that I've ever heard in any song in a very long time. Lizza Hayson's vocals are packed with so much passion and power that they will have you in a stranglehold from the moment you press play. The way the her vocals infuse with the music is stunning. Mahavatar have certainly set the bar high, for all metal bands to come. All hail the mighty Mahavatar, 'From the Sun, The Rain, The Wind, The Soil', is an absolute masterpiece. It is simply amazing. Plain and simple.
If you love metal and its many forms I cannot recommend this enough. Now what the hell are you doing still reading this!!? Go out and buy it, crank it to the maximum and warn the neighbors! Mahavatar could very well be the valedictorian of the 2006 metal class!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
