Michael “T” (MT aka Mike “T”) celebrated his 70’s theme birthday party in style with his groovy new cover band Disco FunkShun that gave a smashing debut performance at The Cat Club. Disco FunkShun includes MT, co-lead vocals, bass; Michael Williams, lead vocals, percussion); Big Al, percussion, occasional lead vocals; Jinx, drummer; Cabot S., lead guitar; and Mike G., keyboards. Disco FunkShun filled up the room to capacity with an excited audience that was ready to party. Fans and friends stuck around for the fun and games along with a double headliner performance with The Starfu*kers. It was the perfect birthday gift for Mike “T” that The Starfu*kers came early to celebrate the birthday boy’s special night that included an exotic birthday guitar cake, many presents for the birthday boy, balloons, disco ball necklaces, shades, love beads, and blowing bubbles. To top it all off, the audience had an extraordinary Hollywood back to back experience listening to seasoned professional musicians from both Disco FunkShun and The Starfu*kers play covers that all played at an elite level.
Many celebrity musicians were performing and in attendance with many industry people. Members of local bands included, Dave Schulz (Goo Goo Dolls, English Beat), Richie Onori (Heaven and Earth, Co-Owner of Black Star Records, Keith Emerson’s band), Chris Orr (William Morris Agency, Chris Orr Management Company), G. g. Anaya (Band Manager), John Van Egger (Video Camera Editor), Snakemann (Jewelry Craftsman), Monica Wilde (PR), and talented musicians Romar Carson and Johnnie Davis.
Four members of The Starfu*kers played right after MT and were cheering on Disco FunkShun as they played 70’s hits that included “Brick House,” “Purple Rain,” “Burn Rubber,” “Superstition,” and “Thank You.” The members of the Starfu*kers were Eric Dover (Jellyfish, Slash’s Snakepit, Alice Cooper) lead vocals, rhythm guitar; Slim Jim Phantom (The Stray Cats, The Cat Club Owner) drums; John Corabi (Ratt, Motley Crue, The Scream) lead guitar, backup vocals with occasional lead); Stefan Adika (toured with the late Dee Dee Ramone, Gilby Clark, L.A. Guns, Glamnation), bass. The Starfu*kers play a Thursday night residency at The Cat Club with extensive set lists in their heads ready to play music all night. Gilby Clarke and Dizzy Reed (both of Guns N’ Roses fame) also have played with the Starf*ckers.
