Talented is an understatement when you are talking about singer/songwriter Christopher Scott. The Texan native that now resides in Long Beach, California is a musical prodigy trained as a classical piano player, at a tender age of 5 learned how to play fifteen instruments. On his self-titled CD he plays all of the instruments, wrote all of the songs and produced the entire disc expertly.
Scott is a combination of Nick Lachey meets John Mayer. He infuses seductive vocals with great musical arrangements. His music features universal themes such as boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl back again. He uses strong ideas about love lost and found once again.
He begins the disc with “Way to Your Heart,” which discusses the idea of finding that perfect mate…searching for love. Scott incorporates some fine harmonies on this track.
“Exit Wounded,” is an upbeat tune with strong rhythms talks about a person going back to an old flame as the new lover is trying to turn this new love around.
“Could it be You,” begins with a nice piano riff and again talks about finding the right person to share your love with.
“King of the Open Mic Night,” is an ironic tune dealing with the challenges of being a struggling musician putting yourself on the line to be criticized by others. He says.” I’m vulnerable now,” The energy in this tune is infectious.
The only problem with this disc is that the tunes on the back end of the CD sound a lot like each other. There are similar tunes and with similar focus. It would be better with a little more variety.
Scott also has produced a bonus EP including “Is This Love,” “Torn” and “Capital” which pacts a lot of momentum. It’s a great tool for getting his new music heard.
Scott was one of the only male of 3 finalists in the VO5/Conde Nast "Red Hot Rising Stars" competition, Christopher has been featured in Glamour, Allure, Teen Vogue, Jane, Lucky, and Self--magazines with over 26 million readers! He was also selected recently as one of six new faces to represent the KMS California brand of hair care products.
Scott has wonderful warm pipes and his hooks are impressive. He has the potential for being a very successful musician. His music is upbeat and inspirational.
As his Myspace account says his music is for people who want to feel again. Check out more on him at: www.christopherscott.net or www.myspace.com/christopherscott
