CD Review
By Francisco H. Ciriza
This project is the brainchild of San Diego’s Jeff Forrest and partner Rick Saunders of Independence, Missouri. Forrest owns and operates Doubletime Studios and is an icon of San Diego’s music scene. His previous band, Parker Theory, remains a cult favorite. Forrest’s expertise is two-fold. His strong voice and tight spiraling harmonies mesh perfectly with his keyboard parts and knack for layering tasteful additions to an already solid foundation is uncanny. Fans of the Beatles and the Cars will feel right at home with this one. 80’s-like guitar and keys licks carry Bleach Astrology’s own wall of sound throughout the disc especially on the title track and the hilarious satirical lyrics about Phil Spector’s downfall are only the most superficial layer of the genius of “Hey Phil.”
