Lights, camera, action. Deservedly a line that well suits Rob Zombie. In support of his newest release Educated Horses Zombie has been on the road and will remain touring until well past Summer-time.
The longest active artist on his label, Geffen Records, Zombie puts on one hell of a high octane show. Subdued lights in the shades of red and green entrenched the stage for a good portion of his set but the eye-candy on stage added to the overall vibe, which included sirens and the large projection screen in the background. Mixing up various clips from Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses and newest music video kept the audience’s eyes on the stage at all times.
Admittedly, I was distressed feeling like I was lost in a herd of cattle, being stepped on and moved along at the standing room only show. Being short added into the mix didn’t help but I managed to enjoy (finally from a distance) the night.
Rob and his talented band played countless hits while the crowd sang along with a feverous vigor. Everything from American Witch, Living Dead Girl, The Devils Rejects, More Human than a Human, Dragula and Never Gonna Step blasted through the venue at maximum volume.
To sum up the night, I would have to say Zombie fuels the crowd as much as they fuel him. This provided an ambience which was very energizing to be a part of and leaves me anticipating the next time Zombie comes to town.
