Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac were in the house! This is what you may have thought if you were walking by McMurphy’s Tavern- Pasadena one Friday night, thanks to The Chain (formerly known as Sea Of Love, the ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute band). Diana Weiss who portrays Stevie Nicks right down to her outfits bears uncanny resemblance to her. Even Diana’s voice has a slight resemblance you’ll hear in a few songs. Bet if you closed your eyes you would think for a minute it was Stevie herself!
But closing your eyes means you would miss out watching a great show and some of the finest musicianship. Jeanie Austin, you’ll find on keyboard/vocals, beautiful as well as talented. Ori Huberman/guitar, Tom Lawlor/bass and Mike Appelman/drums makes up the rest of the band.
The bands music had many of us thinking back to the 70’s and 80’s, the good old times! And as the crowd started to form around the front of the band, I could hear people mumble of their yesterdays. The Chain brought back a lot of good memories and great times of that era. Included in the bands set list were hit songs like.
“Monday Morning”, “Gold Dust Woman”, “Say You Love Me”, “Sara”, Standback, “Go Your Own Way” and of course the bands them song “Chain”. And Diana’s stage performance includes the Stevie Nick’s twirling, beautiful capes and hats that makes them even more interesting to watch.
About the only thing bad was the size of the stage here at McMurphy’s. Not quite big enough for this band nor would it be for any 4 or 5 piece band tribute, or not. Lets just say, I have seen this band perform on bigger stages with better lighting, sound and room to move and what a difference a good venue can make for a band! McMurphy’s should stick to pool tables and dartboards; it makes the perfect sports bar.
So you could “Go Your Own Way”, or never break “The Chain”, and if you haven’t already taken a stroll down memory lane and like Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac’s music, you should definitely go check out the, The Chain, one hellva a very impressive tribute band!
