After 20 hugely successful years on the East Coast, Nickstock organizer, Nick Fuoco, has added a west coast version of the 2 day festival of local bands, camaraderie, and food, drink and fun. Nickstock West will be held on May 12 & 13th at the campgrounds at Irvine Lake and will feature 40 bands including DJs, Metal Bands, Cover Bands, Tribute Bands and even solo acoustic acts. This year’s Nickstock West premiere will be co-headlined by the legendary Mandy Lion and WWIII, and Fuoco’s Alice Cooper tribute, Nightmare. The rest of the line-up consists of local bands who are being given a chance to play on a big stage in front of a lot of people.

“Nikstock started because I know what it’s like to be in a local band always stuck in the small bars and dreaming of the day you might get to play a big stage like the big acts,” explains Fuoco, “This gives our performers a chance to experience that, at least for this one day. The headliners are the pros and they set an example of professionalism for the rest of the bands. And for the fans, it’s a great opportunity to see all these great, still unsigned bands as well as to have a good time and meet new people who share their love of music.”

The original Nikstock was held in 1985 in upstate New York when Fuoco decided that he wanted to throw a big one day party and offered free kegs of beer and some live music. “Everyone had a great time, so I just kept doing it and building it.” Now, in June, Nikstock East will enjoy it’s 21st year after a couple of venue changes (you have to do that when the crowd grows from 600 people who showed up for the free beer the first couple of years to the 3,000 who show up now to see the best local talent, and enjoy a two-day music festival) and it’s first year offering the same to the bands and fans on the West Coast...
