Hypnogaja
at The Viper Room

By Candi

HypnogajaLos Angeles based hard rock band, Hypnogaja performed their first show of 2006 at the Viper Room- Sunset in Hollywood Friday, Mar 31st. This is a great venue to see a band up close and personal and HYPNOGAJA fans were taking advantage of that by going nuts, rushing the stage to get an even closer look!

Hypnogaja hit the stage on fire, leaving you scorched. “Shy boy”/lead vocalist, has an angelic voice which can easily change to a guttural sinister demon without a hitch. Each song is packed with emotion, drawing you in and keeping you mesmerized. Their lyrics, so profound they touch you, deep in your gut. Hypnogaja had their crowd memorized, swaying to the music and lyrical lullaby their entire set.

Performing songs from their recent album release, “Below Sunset” included: “They Don’t Care”, “Silver Star”, “Normal on the Outside”, “Nothing Left to Give” and my fav, “Here Comes the Rain Again”. Hypnogaja has become one of LA’s hottest live acts to see. The band has toured the U.S. extensively, sharing stages with the likes of 311, Shinedown, Cold, and others. Their show at the Viper Room would mark the first of another three month tour taking the band through northern CA., including OR, MT., ID, UT, NV, IL, WI, MI, KY, MO, OH and KS, before LA fans would get another chance to see them at the Key Club in May.

HYPNOGAJA ended their set with “Misery”, a perfect song that leaves you wanting more. Just as their new release on Union State Records/Longhouse Records titled, ACOUSTIC SUNSET - LIVE AT THE LONGHOUSE, will. This album is produced by legendary singer/songwriter Wendy Waldman ("Fishin' In The Dark," "Save The Best For Last.") and is set for release, May 30th . The album features 12 stripped-down live performances plus a new, bonus studio recording, "I'm Not One Of You," co-written with the legendary Wendy Waldman, the album's producer.

The band's previous outing, "Below Sunset" available now, contains the song, "They Don't Care," (video premiering now on MTV Overdrive and MTVU). Hypnogaja's songs have been featured in numerous TV shows ("Las Vegas," "Sex and the City," "America's Next Top Model") and films ("Valentine," "Cold Creek Manor") and the band's innovative approach to creating and marketing music was recently recognized by Apple Computer, Inc., who featured an in-depth interview with Hypnogaja on the home page of Apple.com.
