American Heartbreak :: American Heartbreak
Liquor & Poker Records
CD Review

By The Atomic Chaser

American HeartbreakTHEIR BACK! San Francisco based rockers AMERICAN HEARTBREAK’s self-titled debut on the Liquor & Poker record label is a powerhouse release the will rock your foundation BIG TIME! For those who may not know who these bad boys are, American Heartbreak is powered by Lance Boon on vocals, Billy Rowe (ex-JETBOY) and Casey Crensha on guitars, Michael Butler (ex-EXODUS) on bass and Paul Scavuzzo on drums. It was actually great to see American Heartbreak return to the music scene. After the band’s “Postcards From Hell” I thought they had thrown in the towel. If you ask me, American Heartbreak is one band that will reassure you that the rock music still has a future. They give music back what it has missed for so long, a sense of fun. Power pop melodies infused with rocker chops, cool modern flair, fuel injected rock and roll tunes, perfectly placed hooks and unexpected twists and turns that will have your undivided attention. As is evident on tracks like the adrenaline pumping, “Things Are Lookin’ Up”, “Unhappily Ever After” and “Last of the Superheroes(of the 1970’s)”. It sounds like Big Star in a gang bang with Cheap Trick and Kiss. I know, it sounds like it shouldn’t work, and if anybody else had done it , it probably wouldn’t have,. But for American Heartbreak, it works, holy shit does it work. American Heartbreak are back and I, for one, and pleased to hear it! This CD is a rock album that defies categories, thus, doesn’t get boring. If anything it just gets better and better with each listen.

Highly Recommended
