ExpeldA 2005 Christmas party presented by Jimmy D Productions in December at Paladino’s (Reseda, CA) included a special performance by Xpeld, which this gave the band a chance to give their fans an early Christmas gift! Their set was a sneak peek at what we can expect to hear on their soon-to-be released album. Although Xpeld hasn’t finalized the title of their new release (or if they have, they’re not saying), what we can tell you is that they’re just about to wrap it up. Packed with all kinds of surprises and special guests, their release should be out by spring 2006.

Xpeld features Jeff Lenhart - guitar/vocals, Andy Sheer - bass/vocals, and the incredible backbone that makes Xpeld explode is Scott Karr on drums. Xpeld’s members are not new to the music scene, though the band has only been together for 2 years and has already released 2 albums.

As an original band Xpeld has come a long way in only 2 years. Their Christmas party set featured some of the artists you will hear on their upcoming release, and was a spectacular performance from beginning to end. It was simply over the top—the best show I have EVER seen them perform.

Xpeld hit the stage with vengeance. Scott, wearing only a bowtie (no shirt) was getting the crowd—especially the women—all stage front! Their opening song, “Creep,” got everyone movin’, followed with “You Are” featuring special guest Adam G. (Lovechild). This could easily be a hit song for the band. Next Scott took us into a drum solo with his double bass kit, and all we heard was a lot of “ooohs” and “aaahs” coming from the audience. It is incredible to see Scott perform, as not many drummers use a double bass nor perform a drum solo in the clubs anymore.

Their set list included “Inside,” “Talk the Talk” featuring Mike Pruitt of Skull Linick, “Everything,” then “Change Your Name” featuring Carlos Cavazo and Krigger. My favorite was “Save You,” which won Xpeld “Song of the Year” at the AAM Music Awards last year. “Got to Leave” featured Robin McAuley of MSG. This performance got everyone stage front. It’s not only a great song, but to have Robin McAuley perform alongside of you, how cool is that! And whoever thought we would see Robin perform in a metal band? This definitely made my Christmas and I can’t wait to get my hands on Xpeld’s new release.

Finishing their set with the song “With,” Xpeld once again brought the roof down at Paladino’s while spreading a little Christmas cheer! Thanks, Xpeld! Can’t wait for your CD release party. I hear rumors this will be a show NO one will want to miss! Check out Xpeld at www.xpeld.com
